Russia Irritated: NATO troops continue to carry out drills near conflict areas

NATO has enhanced its presence in the Eastern part of the Alliance, with eight multinational battlegroups from the Baltic to the Black Sea. These battlegroups represent the biggest reinforcement of NATO’s collective defence in a generation.

German and Dutch deploys Patriot missile defence system to Slovakia

  Video Source:  U.S. MILITARY CENTRAL A Dutch-German Air and Missile Defence Task Force deployed Patriot surface-to-air missile systems near Sliač Air Base, Slovakia in April to reinforce defence capabilities on NATO’s eastern flank following Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The Patriot systems will contribute to the NATO Integrated Air and Missile Defence System (NATINAMDS), a network of interconnected sensors, command and control assets, and weapons. These ground-based defensive systems will strengthen the integrated shielding of NATO's borders and will protect Slovakia from missile threats. NATO Integrated Air Missile Defence (NATO IAMD) is an essential, continuous mission in peacetime, crisis and conflict, safeguarding and protecting Alliance territory, populations and forces against any air and missile threat and attack. It is an essential element of NATO’s deterrence and defence.

Japan-US Joint Bilateral Operation - Aid for Ukraine

  Video Source:  U.S. MILITARY CENTRAL U.S. Airman from Yokota Air Base and members of the Japanese Self-Defense Force (JSDF) offload humanitarian relief supplies for Ukraine. The supplies were donated by the Government of Japan and were loaded onto a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster to be delivered to Ukraine.

  Video Source:  U.S. MILITARY CENTRAL Air Force 120th FS F-16 Fighting Falcon flies over Fort McCoy, Wis., on Aug. 13, 2021. The fighter jet was participating in the Northern Lightning 2021 exercise at nearby Volk Field, Wis. F-16s also dropped 500-pound Joint Direct Attack Munitions for the first time at the Fort McCoy impact area during the exercise. Volk Field Combat Readiness Training Center hosted approximately 50 aircraft and nearly 1,000 members of the National Guard, Air Force, Army, and Navy as part of the training exercise. Air Force aircraft also regularly fly over Fort McCoy for training operations.

VMFA-211 is embarked aboard Tripoli as part of the U.S. Marine Corps' Lightning carrier concept demonstration. The Lightning carrier concept demonstration shows Tripoli and other amphibious assault ships are capable of operating as dedicated fixed-wing strike platforms when needed, capable of bringing fifth generation Short Takeoff/Vertical Landing aircraft wherever they are required.

UK Army donates thousands of helmets to Ukraine

British soldiers have taken up the challenge – to sort and pack 84,000 surplus helmets bound for the Ukrainian military in two weeks flat. Thirty members of the Midlands’ based “Poachers” from 2nd Battalion The Royal Anglian Regiment, have been hard at work for the last week and are now in the final push to pack up all the helmets by Friday. Working from morning until night, the Cottesmore based troops are currently ensconced in a huge stores warehouse at MOD Donnington in Shropshire, where the surplus supplies have been shipped from military stores from across the UK. The task includes physically stripping the helmets of any British Army webbing or identifying badges and packing them in crates each holding 100 of the life-saving pieces of head gear. It can operate at a maximum altitude of 28,000ft with a payload of 42,000lb. Its maximum take-off weight is 164,000lb. “The aircraft is also designed to accommodate the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures system.” The fourth generation gunship aircraft can accommodate two pilots, two combat systems officers, and three enlisted gunners. The aircraft is also designed to accommodate the Large Aircraft Infrared Countermeasures (LAIRCM) system. The strategy sets out the UK’s commitments to NATO, such as increasing UK training and operations in the area with Allies and international partners.
