617 Sqn depart Amari Air Base in Estonia following NATO enhanced Vigilance Activity (eVA) air policing.Two F-35B Lightning aircraft from RAF Marham are de-iced at Amari airbase in Estonia this week while based there to carry out NATO enhanced Vigilance Activity. The Lightnings from RAF Marham in Norfolk were supported by a small team of RAF and Royal Navy personnel comprising Force Protection, engineering, survival equipment, communications, and logistics. The air base has been regularly used by RAF Typhoons to carry out the NATO Baltic Air Policing mission. RAF Marham is the home of the F-35B Lightning, a 5th Generation, multi-role, stealth fighter. The Station is also home to a range of engineering support functions from maintenance to frontline support. The Ämari Air Base is one of the two tactical military units of the Estonian Defence Forces under the command of the Commander of the Estonian Air Force, with the main tasks of airbase operations and organisation of aviation activities in the Estonian Defence Forces.
